This page separates current evidence-synthesis work, formal research preparation and prospective doctoral questions from SISFIT's historical practice data.
Catherine currently has two systematic evidence-synthesis projects in progress. Public titles and persistent identifiers will be linked when the corresponding records are ready for citation.
An analysis sequence using National Cancer Institute HINTS survey data: first, the association between perceived difficulty judging the truthfulness of social-media health information and reported health-decision use; second, whether that association differed between the 2022 and 2024 survey cycles.
Adjusted OR 1.83 (95% CI 1.42–2.34; n=5,183). Survey-weighted logistic regression using 50 JK1 replicate weights.
A cross-sectional association; no causal interpretation.
Interaction OR 1.20 (95% CI 0.83–1.73; p=0.330; pooled n=10,838). A 100-replicate merged survey-weight design.
The formal test does not establish change in the association across cycles.
Methodological interpretation: a larger descriptive gap in 2024 does not demonstrate a change in the association. Independent cross-sectional survey cycles cannot establish individual change. A single judgement item is not a validated digital-health-literacy scale.
Secondary analysis of CDC/NCHS NHANES 2013–2014 linking the day-level wrist physical-activity-monitor summary with GPAQ leisure-activity items, demographics and body measures. The device outcome is MIMS movement density, not MVPA minutes.
Primary result: higher self-reported leisure physical activity was positively associated with higher device-measured movement density (beta 0.00876, 95% CI 0.00347–0.01404; n=4,726; p=0.003) after adjustment for age, sex and BMI.
Robustness: the focal coefficient remained positive across five prespecified movement-data completeness rules (beta 0.00754–0.00876) and in models without BMI or with additional race/ethnicity and education terms.
Interpretation: cross-sectional association only. MIMS movement density and self-reported leisure activity are related but non-equivalent measures; neither is treated as a gold standard for the other. The primary 1,200-minute / 4-day completeness rule is analyst-defined.
Wrist device: valid-day MIMS movement density measures an overall movement construct. Questionnaire: reported leisure MET-min/week represents recalled recreational physical activity. Discrepancy alone does not establish self-report error.
Design: NHANES MEC weights, masked strata and PSUs are used, with five alternative activity-monitor completeness rules. The coefficient remains positive across these specifications (β 0.00754–0.00876).
These are cross-sectional associations, not measurement equivalence or causal estimates. Read method and sensitivity audit.
Working theme: how digital health literacy, content design and platform environments may shape engagement with and comprehension of physical-activity guidance. The final doctoral question will be refined for the specific supervisory and project context.
